Observation Summary

Aggregate the responses from closed observations for one form set, broken down by form, section, and question.

The Summary Report aggregates the answers from your closed observations for a single form set. Instead of listing individual observations, it rolls every response up by form, then by section, then by question — so you can see how a whole school or district answered each item on the instrument.

Role: Reporter or higher. The report only includes closed observations, scoped to the organizations your role can access.

To reach it, go to Observe → Reports → Summary Report.

A summary is always built for one form set, so the Form Set selector in the toolbar pulses until you pick one. Until then the report reads “Please select a Form Set to view the Summary Report.”

Once a form set is chosen, the report builds and streams in its progress (“Rendering: …”) as it works through the questions.

The results are grouped by form → by section → by question:

  • Rubric sections show the section’s average Score alongside a table of how observations were distributed across the rubric’s markers (e.g. Developing, Proficient, Distinguished).
  • Matrix sections show a table of responses distributed across the matrix markers.
  • Regular question sections show each question with its answer counts and rates — how often each choice was selected.

If your filters exclude everything, the report reads “No responses meet the filter settings.”

A Show Graphs toggle (in the menu, on by default) draws a chart for each question. The chart type is chosen to fit the question — a rate bar, a selection breakdown, a rubric-score chart, a matrix distribution, and so on.

The toolbar carries a date range and a Time grouping dropdown — Month (default), Semester, or Year — which sets the interval for the trend data.

The Filter button opens a dialog with these fields:

  • Organizations — narrow to specific buildings, or leave open for everything you can access.
  • Questions — limit the report to specific questions.
  • Observees — the people who were observed.
  • Observers — the people who conducted the observations.
  • Grade Levels, Class Periods, Content Areas — narrow by where the observation took place.

Use the saved-filter widget in the toolbar to save the current filter set and reload it later, so you don’t have to rebuild a common view each time.

The menu’s Export as PDF renders the report — graphs and all — to observation-summary-report.pdf, with a header (Edge / “Observation Summary Report” / your organization name), a copyright footer, the created date, and page numbers.
